Join MITRE’s corporate Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) team and be at the forefront of developing modern integrated and secure IT systems, both on-prem and in the cloud. As part of the larger Enterprise Computing, Information and Security (ECIS) organization, take the lead in helping MITRE demonstrate technical innovation while providing IT services that empower MITRE’s research, corporate services, and engagement with industry. Working with senior IT and cybersecurity leaders, provide strategic direction to MITRE’s corporate IT organization on the adoption of emerging technologies and practices, including cloud, artificial intelligence, mobility, zero trust, and government CMMC compliance. Roles & Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Work across the corporate IT organization and Infosec to proactively find areas of opportunity to align disparate IT services and technical implementations.

  • Analyze and understand the business strategy, processes, and objectives to assist develop technology systems that align with them.

  • Facilitate cloud based IT services and migration or federation of existing on prem services.

  • Lead and contribute to CIO project portfolios.

  • Liaison with directors, portfolio managers, and others that initiate projects.

  • Identify significant projects and help identify and resolve areas of conflict or opportunity to align with overall IT architecture.

  • Ensure cross project/service awareness for complex, matrixed strategic projects or changes.

  • Lead the development of technical IT service roadmaps in partnership with the other Center CEs. Be an integrator of key capability drivers; business strategy and need, contractual compliance, and to develop a consistent and coherent strategy across ECIS and InfoSec

  • Promote Technical quality - assess quality of engineering solutions, service processes, risk assessments, and business value assessments.

  • Accelerate teams by providing technical conflict resolution.

  • Foster collection of enterprise technology and product intelligence to be applied to ECIS service needs.

  • Assess developments in emerging technology, ECIS pilots, etc.

  • Anticipate needs for expertise in new areas. Coordinate vendor TEMs, training, etc.

  • Facilitate innovation by being an integration point between sustainment, CIO innovation programs, work program initiatives, the MITRE IR&D program, and other innovation efforts.

Partnership

  • Foster integration and collaboration across MITRE organizations and technical disciplines

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure the IT systems support their needs and can adapt to future requirements.

  • Partner with the leadership across the corporate IT organization to help shape and develop programs to provide impactful, high quality, and innovative work products.

  • Support work shaping activities, including engagement planning, staffing needs, and future growth.

  • Foster technical knowledge sharing to increase the collective knowledge of ECIS.

Staff Development

  • Strong contributor to strategy and execution for recruiting and hiring.

  • Support mentoring

  • Foster an organizational culture of ongoing technical development.

  • Assist in the creation of mentoring relationships.

  • Mentor staff that are pursuing a corporate IT architecture career path

  • Assist management in performance calibration and division development goal setting.

    Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Extensive experience and expertise with IT Infrastructure services, theory, approaches, and supporting technologies to enable our application cloud transformation.

  • Experience, thorough familiarity with, and demonstrated success understanding and staying technically current in multiple key IT architecture areas such as:

  • On-prem and cloud infrastructure services and integration across those services

  • Compliance and security programs to protect these services.

  • Internet facing systems, both on prem and cloud

  • Next gen technology such as multi-cloud and on-prem integration, Zero Trust security.

  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to decompose complex technical problems into manageable portions, identify driving factors in technical decisions.

  • Demonstrated success in leading deeply technical IT teams.

  • Demonstrated success in developing executable IT strategies that incorporate customer needs, security, business capability tradeoffs, and innovation.

  • Demonstrated success working with people and coaching talent, including technical training experience.

  • Strong technical writing, editing, and presentation skills including demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical topics and recommendations.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vendor / third-party technical capability and source selection assessments.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, deploy solutions with ‘security by design’ and meeting compliance requirements, from small projects to enterprise level corporate strategy.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with an applicable bachelor’s degree; or 7 years and an applicable Master’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • MITRE Site locations are being considered, however being connected to one of the campuses is strongly preferred. This role will need to participate in team building, liaison work, and other job responsibilities which could require a high amount of travel.
