Database Administrator (MSSQL)

What is the Job all about?

The role is responsible for support and operations of data and database management on SQL environment including maintenance, enhancement and designing data base structure, database models, performance tuning and automation of standard tasks.

Provide professional and best-in-class support for SQL services for the business and IS stakeholders. Monitor, react to and follow runbooks to ensure correct support, setup and functionality according to agreed standards.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Maintain SQL Server instances for production, development and testing.

  • Maintain SQL HA and DR setup.

  • Ensure DB's are monitored 24/7 and debugged when failures occur.

  • Work with other System Administrators on performance metrics and infrastructure needs

  • Proactively do maintenance, backup and operations tasks as well as automation of standard tasks

  • Participation in project assignments

  • Ensure consolidation of SQL servers is carried out.

  • Actively participate in migration of on-prem environments to Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS

  • Coordinate updates on the SQL Server and performs actions during maintenance windows.

  • Monitor performance and tune queries with business reporting.

  • Document and maintain the SQL Server environment, processes and polices.

Your background:

  • 6-7 years’ experience as SQL DBA with support and operations as the key tasks

  • Working in a global environment with local and remote colleagues

  • Possess a great understanding of the relevant systems for the IT and IT System Engineering area

  • Experience in migrating on-prem to cloud environments

  • Experience in effectively deploying and administering web/database-oriented solutions in modern cloud environments. (Azure, AWS

  • Able to work effectively in a global team environment – with colleagues across time zones and cultures.
