As a Senior Software Engineer in the Mixed Reality Core Software team, you will drive the implementation of key features for the reliable and performant systems that are core to our products. You will require a deep understanding of device hardware, operating systems, drivers, and firmware to excel on this team. Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet device requirements

• Implement performant and stable system software for highly reliable systems

• Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing

• Working with cross-discipline teams to root cause and solve system issues

• Integrating, testing and debugging of 3rd party solutions and engaging with Independent Hardware Vendors (IHVs)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Rust or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience in C, C++ design and coding skills.

  • Experience in implementing or integrating device drivers on one or more of the following platforms: (Windows, Linux, or Android).

  • Experience in implementing firmware for embedded devices and low-level protocols (I2C, UART, SPI, USB, etc.)

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with cross discipline engineering teams to balance and coordinate product decisions.

  • Familiarity with tools to optimize power and performance

  • Familiarity with pre-boot environments such as Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)

  • Familiarity with wireless protocols and subsystems (Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.)

  • High tolerance to ambiguity and the ability to make progress in the face of it

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
