Scope of Job

The College of Education and P-16 Integration is seeking to hire master’s and doctoral level students to be employed as Graduate Research Assistants throughout the 2024-2025 academic year. In the role of Graduate Research Assistant, the student will have the opportunity to support faculty with their research while gaining valuable mentorship from the faculty as they collaborate to produce publishable research projects or external research grant proposals. GRAs are assigned to specific research projects and will work directly with the faculty who are conducting those projects.

Graduate Research Assistants’ work time should be spent on research-related work. Duties will vary depending on the project and assigned research/scholarly functions or other creative projects. Examples of research-related work may include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of Human Subjects Protection Training

  • Transcribing interview data

  • Locating professional articles on a research topic

  • Writing a literature review

  • Running statistical analyses

  • Organizing data into Excel and SPSS

  • Collecting data through interviews and/or surveys

  • Assisting in the preparation of conference presentation proposals

  • Creating PowerPoints or handouts for research presentations at conferences

  • Writing parts of a manuscript such as implications for practice

  • Editing and preparing a manuscript for submission to a peer-reviewed journal

  • Other research-related duties as assigned

  • Responsible, enthusiastic, independent, adheres to deadlines, and takes initiative

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on research projects or external grants proposals

  • Complete Master’s degree

  • Experience developing and presenting scholarly conference proposals in the fields of curriculum & pedagogy

  • Experience gathering and analyzing qualitative data and/ or advanced coursework in qualitative research
