CVS Health Lead Director, Strategy & Business Development in Sacramento, California

Primary job duties & responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating Development & Management of Specialty Strategy: Facilitate the development of our Specialty strategy as part of the annual planning process, designing strategy workshop materials, strategic goals and success metrics, and strategy reporting documents. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with broader CVS Health priorities.

  • Launching Partnerships and/or Special Projects: Support the scoping/ development of partnership opportunities and/or special projects as needed by the business. This may include developing the financial/ analytical business case and the accompanying pitch materials for an opportunity, followed by cross-functional collaboration and program management to facilitate project launch and ongoing monitoring.

  • Managing Market & Competitive Intelligence Function: Serve as the “go to” person for insights on market trends and competitive dynamics and how they may impact our Specialty Strategy. Use external and internal data to develop analytical insights about industry trends/ competitors and synthesize for SVP- and EVP-level leadership. Define and develop the process for fielding and communicating this intelligence to relevant stakeholders.

  • Communicating the Specialty Strategy to Internal & External Stakeholders: Develop presentations (PowerPoint, scripted talking points) for SVP- and EVP-level leaders to deliver in external (conference speaking engagements, earnings calls, client presentations) and internal forums (Board of Directors meetings, C-Suite meetings). Serve as a key Specialty point of contact with CVS Health Investor Relations, Marketing & Communications, and other cross-functional teams responsible for communicating our strategy and customer value proposition.

Required Qualifications:

8-10 years of experience with -

• Working in the healthcare ecosystem (pharmacy, pharmaceuticals, healthcare providers, health plans, PBMs, etc.)

• Significant experience developing Executive-ready presentations (PowerPoint), including storyboarding and slide development

• Experience executing financial analyses and applying analytical/ advanced logic to answer strategic questions and develop business cases; proficiency in Excel and creating a “deliverable-quality” Excel based analysis

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting to senior audiences

• Track record of staying highly organized across multiple workstreams and high attention to detail

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and have influence without chain-of-command authority

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • Specialty Pharmacy, pharmaceutical company, or PBM experience

  • Strategy consulting/ management consulting experience or investment banking/ private equity

Skill in:

  • Experience sourcing relevant market/ competitive intelligence, identifying emerging trends, and strategic implications for business leaders

  • Experience managing strategic planning processes, including development and management of key performance indicators

Ability To:

  • Proven ability to develop business relationships necessary to effectively collaborate and drive results cross-functionally

Education:

Bachelor's Degree Required

MBA or similar advanced degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,500.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
